GOLD: Graduates Of the Last Decade

The IEEE New Zealand North section has a GOLD group! GOLD stands for Graduates Of the Last Decade and, as the name implies, is a group of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) members who have graduated in the last 10 years. This is the first GOLD group within New Zealand. However, there are 54 sections in the world identified with GOLD committees so far.

GOLD is targeted at students moving from academic to professional environments. Its aims are to provide professional development such as leadership, time management and mentoring. It also provides a mechanism for graduates to network with people of similar ages.

We have regular events throughout the year so please check the Upcoming Events page to find out what is happening. Events consist of such things as site visits to places like the Sky Tower, Lion Nathan Brewery and the Auckland Traffic Control Centre as well as things like time management presentations, and presentations from people working in relevent fields in the industry. We also have social events where you can meet and socialise with other members. There are some recent past events listed on the Past Events page along with some photos, be sure to check them out.

If you have any suggestions for possible events that we, as recent engineering graduates, may be interested in there are contact details listed on the Committee page. If you have contacts as well for site visits etc, even better!

If you are interested in joining the IEEE GOLD section you need to be a member of the IEEE and have graduated within the last 10 years. You can join through the IEEE Website.
